Today didn't seem all that remarkable. I mean, I had the day off and enjoyed my time with my family. I love seeing my wife on the days she works from home. I love seeing Ben here at home enjoying us and being a kid. I mean, he's only one, but you'd never know it just by seeing him run around the house and run on our couch.
As a daddy, I have to instill good examples and values of being a sports fan. He doesn't have to root for the same teams as my wife and I do. I really hope Ben will take to being a Braves fan. If he does, it is my hope in Ben's lifetime that the Braves are good again. I want to see the look on his face when they Braves make the playoffs, advance round-by-round, and then win it all.
Right now, I'll settle for Ben being happy and doing the hot dog dance to Mickey Mouse. It's clear to us that Ben is a cartoon, baby show, Special agent Oso, and Mickey Mouse fan.
I love to chase Ben around the house and play toys with him. He's really good at scattering things around the living room. He like to play with "Rocky" the yellow transformer. I can hear "rocky" say things to Ben. I can hear his voice in my sleep. 'Rocky Reporting For Duty.'
One of my sacred duties as a daddy is administering bed time. I love feeding him his milk, reading books to him, and kissing him good night.
My favorite book to read to Ben to date is "I love you through and through." I really love Ben through and through yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I think I could read that book to him over and over again. I will expand his literature range by reading different books to him.
The downside to my work schedule is that I only get to do bedtime with him two nights a week at the most. I think it's a huge job and a huge honor to see Ben off to sleep. I make it a point to kiss him good night each night.
I better enjoy my free time today because tomorrow, I've got some overtime to do at my job.
I love you Kelly, Ben, baby #2, and Gandalf.
